Replays showed Suarez and Italian defender Chiellini tangling during the match at the Dunas Arena in Natal, and Suarez seemingly biting the left shoulder of Chiellini.
When asked whether he bit Chiellini in an interview following the game, Suarez did neither confirm nor deny it, according to AFP news agency.
“These are just things that happen out on the pitch," he was quoted as saying.
FIFA, meanwhile, said it began to investigate the incident, the reports said.
Previously, Suarez received penalties twice for similar biting incidents.
Uruguay edged Italy 1-0 to reach the Round of 16 of the 2014 World Cup.
