CJ CGV buys 14.75% stake in Indonesian movie theater chain

CJ CGV, the largest multiplex cinema chain in South Korea, said Friday it acquired a 14.75 percent stake in Blitzmegaplex, a movie theater chain in Indonesia.

Blitzmegaplex was listed on the Indonesian stock exchange on Thursday.

The chain opened its first location in Bandung in 2006. It now runs 11 theaters in Jakarta and five other cities, according to CJ CGV.

CJ CGV opened sites in China and Los Angeles in 2006, and took over major cinema chain in Vietnam in 2013.
