Hundreds of Barbadians flocked to the city to witness the celebrations for the 375th anniversary of Barbados' parliament, one of the oldest in the Commonwealth.

They joined thousands of visitors who took part in the entire day's events marking the parliamentary celebrations, honoring Barbados' bicameral system.

Old and young, and people from all races participated in the activities.

The lifting of the Chamberlain Bridge which saw a flotilla of boats gathering in the Careenage was a special treat for young Barbadians who had never before witnessed such a spectacle.

His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex joined Barbadians in the city for the celebrations.

Aspects of Barbadian culture were on display in Heroes’ Square as celebrations continued after a parade and flag raising ceremony.

The traditional donkey man, mother sally, shaggy bears and stilt walkers performed for Barbadians and visitors.
