Cumulative sales of Hyundai Sonata in US exceed 2 million units

South Korea's leading automaker Hyundai Motor said Monday that it has sold more than 2 million units of its Sonata sedan in the United States since it entered the U.S. market 24 years ago.

Cumulative sales of Sonatas in the U.S. reached 2,014,339 vehicles, the company said.

In the first half of this year, Hyundai sold 103,010 Sonatas in the U.S.

Sonata is the second Korean midsize model to exceed the 2 million sales mark in the American market after the Elantra, known as the Avante in Korea, also produced by Hyundai.
