To mark 4th of July in usual wiener mode, 2013 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest took place on Coney Island.

This year’s champion is none other than Joey “Jaws” Chestnut with the record of chowing down 69 hot dogs.

Chestnut is a competitive eater who won Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest 6 consecutive years before 2013, marking this year’s victory his lucky 7. Chestnut won competition last year with 62 hot dogs.

Runner-up was Matt Stonie who gulped down impressive 51 hot dogs, but still did not even come close to Chestnut’s record.

Women’s division champion was Sonja Thomas (a.k.a. Black Widow) with the record of 36 ¾ hot dogs. The second runner-up, Juliet Lee, came so close with 36 hot dogs.

Many competitive eating contest fans thought Sonja Thomas’ record this year was quite disappointing since she won the contest with the record of 45 hot dogs last year.

2013 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest was wrapped up successfully with a new record.
