President Park Geun-hye returned home Sunday after a four-day state visit to China.

During her stay in Beijing, Park agreed with President Xi Jinping to elevate relations between the two countries and cooperate closely to end North Korea‘s nuclear program.

Park also met two other top Chinese leaders - Premier Li Keqiang and Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

In addition, Park delivered a speech at Tsinghua University, the alma mater of Xi.

Following Thursday’s summit with Xi, the two countries issued a joint communique pledging to increase cooperation in all sectors, including political and security areas.

On North Korea, the communique said North Korea's nuclear program poses a "serious" threat to peace and stability in Northeast Asia and the world.

It said the two sides will work together to make the Korean Peninsula free of atomic weapons.

Before returning home, Park flew to Xian, a base for China's western development, where she visited the construction site of a large Samsung Electronics semiconductor plant and a cultural site which is known for thousands of life-size terracotta statues of warriors and horses.
