Korea publishes English booklet on Dokdo

The government has published an English version of its booklet on Dokdo islets in an effort to promote South Korea's rightful sovereignty over the islets in the East Sea.

"The Geography of Dokdo," published by the National Geographic Information Institute at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, will be distributed to libraries and Korean diplomatic missions around the world, the institute said. Japan has claimed sovereignty over the islets.

It said the publication offers basic information about Dokdo, geography, history, economy and life.

"This English booklet will help foreigners promote their understanding of Dokdo, and can be used as a useful material for the study on the islets," an official at the institute said.

Earlier, the institute opened a website dokdo.ngii.go.kr both in Korean and Enblish.
