South Korean professional swimmer, Park Tae-hwan, won the 100-meter freestyle race at the Santa Clara International Grand Prix Friday, which was held to prepare for the London Olympics in July.

The 23-year old swimmer,Park, won the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in men‘s 400-meter race.

Park came in at 48.85 seconds for this 100-meter race and he says the time does not qualify him to participate in the Olympics 100-meter event but Park said he used the race to check his pace for the 200-meter competition, which he is focused on.

The win is the second at the grand prix for the 23-year-old swimmer following a gold medal gained Thursday in the 800-meter race, where he also broke South Korea’s domestic record, seven minutes 52.07 seconds, the fourth-fastest time in the world this year.
