The platform, called Master K, incorporates various smart learning solutions, such as virtual learning and AI pronunciation tests, to enable remote lectures. The Southeast Asian country has designated Korean as one of its first foreign languages but has yet to secure enough teachers.
According to the company, a total of 427 Vietnamese students in seven elementary, middle and high schools in Hanoi and other cities are currently taking Korean classes using Master K. Visang plans to expand its application to include more Vietnamese students as well as workers.
"Viet Nam is experiencing an expansion of exchanges with Korea across all fields, including economy, diplomacy, and culture, leading to a steady increase in demand for Korean language education. However, there is a severe shortage of Korean language teachers in the country," said Lee Young-geun, the general director at Visang Vietnam Education.
Visang's education project is part of the Korea International Cooperation Agency's Inclusive Business Solution, designed to address social issues in developing countries while offering employment and business opportunities.
Along with Viet Nam, Master K has been exported to 10 other countries, including the United States, Japan and Austria, targeting the global educational technology market. Market research firm Grand View Research's data showed that the global educational technology market size is projected to reach $348.4 billion by 2030.
As of 2023, Korean has been selected as a second foreign language subject in 23 countries and included as a subject in college entrance exams in 10 countries, according to the Ministry of Education.
