SEOUL, April 23 (AJU PRESS) – The world's leading companies in the electric vehicle industry will showcase their latest products and technologies at the 37th International Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exhibition (EVS37), which kicked off on Tuesday for a four-day run at COEX in southern Seoul.
About 160 companies from 12 countries are participating in the world's largest and oldest EV conference-cum-exposition, known as the "Olympics of the EV Industry," according to organizers.
About 1,500 experts from more than 40 countries are also expected to attend the EVS37, discussing latest industry trends and technologies, they said.
The annual event is hosted in rotation across three continents -- North America, Europe, and Asia. It is the third time that Korea has held the exhibition after 2002 and 2015.
The 37th event is hosted by the World Electric Vehicle Association and the Electric Vehicle Association of Asia Pacific and organized by the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers.
Korean companies account for 63 percent of exhibitors, while 21 percent from Europe, 12 percent from Asia outside of Korea and four percent from the United States.
Korea's Samsung SDI will unveil rapid charging technology capable of charging up to 80 percent of an EV battery in about nine minutes, alongside all-solid-state batteries, considered the next-generation power source for EVs. These solid batteries are claimed to be nonflammable and offer a higher energy density compared to lithium-ion batteries.
SK Signet will showcase V2, a 400-kilowatt-class rapid charger capable of charging two EVs at the same time. LG Energy Solution will display its cell-to-pack (CTP) technology that can significantly improve the energy density of battery packs while reducing costs.
