SEOUL, March 26 (AJU PRESS) -- A total of 450 companies from nine countries will participate in the "Smart Factory + Automation World (SFAW)," an annual tech event held in Seoul from March 27 to March 29. Exhibitors will showcase robots and other innovative factory automation solutions at the COEX Convention & Exhibition Center located in Gangnam District, the fashion and finance hub of Seoul.
SFAW is one of South Korea's largest business-to-business (B2B) exhibitions for smart manufacturing solution developers. According to the official website of SFAW, more than 70,000 people are expected to visit the event spot this year. In 2023, a total of 51,894 visitors attended the exhibition.
Promising South Korean tech firms will take part in the three-day event. Aidin Robotics will display PanoRadar, a safety radar sensor capable of detecting obstacles up to a distance of 9 meters (29.5 feet). When attached to a collaborative robot, the sensor assists in ensuring safe operations by detecting people and objects in all directions.
Epson Korea will present its robot that swiftly and accurately picks up and sorts objects using conveyor tracking technology. The technique allows operations without the need to halt objects moving along the conveyor belt. Other domestic exhibitors include robot platform company Rainbow Robotics, LG CNS, the information technology wing of LG Group, and CJ OliveNetworks, affiliated with CJ Group.
SFAW will be attended by various overseas companies, including German technology conglomerate Siemens and Mitsubishi Electric, a major automation firm based in Japan. The exhibition will also offer conferences and networking sessions for entrepreneurs.
In July 2023, South Korea's industry ministry unveiled its scheme to inject 28.8 billion won ($22.5 million) to construct six "digitally collaborative" factories in manufacturing sectors such as shipbuilding, carmaking, and machinery by 2025. A total of 29 companies will be engaged in the digital transformation project aimed at improving work efficiency and reducing costs.
