SEOUL -- The music video for BLACKPINK's debut song Boombayah has garnered more than 1.6 billion views on YouTube about six years and 11 months after its release. Through the title track of its debut album Square One, the four-member band expressed their feelings toward their crush, saying they want to dance together at night.
As of 4:42 p.m. (0742 GMT) on July 4, Boombayah's music video had 1,600,179,648 views. "The biggest feature of blackpink songs is that no matter how much you listen to it every day, I never get bored," QueenBlink, a YouTube user said. The dance song features drum beats and a catchy chorus. The group gained more than 2 billion views through Ddu-Du Ddu-Du and over 1.8 billion views through Kill This Love.
BLACKPINK, which debuted in 2016, is one of the most successful K-pop girl bands with more than five million album sales worldwide. While BTS is considered the leading K-pop boy band, the girl group led the K-pop fandom as an iconic girl band. The group became the first K-pop band to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2019.
BLACKPINK is scheduled to showcase performances in Hanoi, Vietnam for two days starting on July 29. The band will interact with fans at the My Dinh National Stadium with a capacity of some 40,000 seats. The group has been tied up with a world tour after the release of Born Pink, the second studio album in September 2022.
