SEOUL -- Cosmax, a cosmetics original development manufacturer in South Korea, teamed up with a domestic research institute to commercialize a functional material that adds cosmetics functions to textiles. The first lineup will be bedding and clothing with cosmetic fibers applied with various cosmetics materials.
Cosmax is developing bedding made of cosmetic fibers in partnership with the Korea Dyeing and Finishing Technology Institute (DYETEC), which has cosmetic source technology in cosmetic nylon fibers comprising organic microcapsules for storing an active ingredient for skincare.
Cosmax said the goal is to develop a product that can achieve atopic improvement just by using blankets or pillows made of cosmetics fiber. "As the category of cosmetics has expanded, the era has come where you can take care of your skin while sleeping in your daily life," Cosmax CEO Lee Byung-man said in a statement on April 13.
Cosmax aims to expand the application of cosmetic fibers by using natural products and microbiomes. In 2019, the company developed an anti-aging cosmetics material called "Strain CX" using microbiome, the genetic material of all the microbes that live on and inside the human body. Strain CX is a composite of microbes with anti-aging characteristics found in the skin of young women.
In the cosmetics industry, the microbiome specifically refers to a group of microbes known to improve the conditions of internal organs and skin. It has received attention as a material for next-generation skincare cosmetics.
For sun care cosmetics, the company has applied a bio-microbial material named "Solarbiome" based on a set of strains found in a NASA project to study the effect and response of space light. Solarbiome helps to restore aging skin from sunburn and is very effective in ultraviolet protection.
