Caliverse is a subsidiary of Lotte Data Communication, an information technology service provider affiliated with Lotte Group based in South Korea. The company would seek to implement a metaverse platform that combines digital and actual images by incorporating its realistic metaverse technology with Mimic's technology. The South Korean company aims to provide an advanced service that enables economic activities in metaverse space.
"The two companies will build an ultra-realistic metaverse platform that connects virtual and real worlds to lead the global metaverse market," said Lotte Data Communication CEO Noh Jun-hyung.
Caliverse produces virtual reality content that enables two-way communication with users. Based on deep interactive technology that responds to touch, gaze, and voice, the company has produced VR dramas, concerts, and promotional videos.
At CES 2022, Lotte Data Communication showcased Caliverse's metaverse platform. By wearing head-mounted display devices, visitors can experience various real-world-like places including a movie theater and home appliance store. Using avatars, visitors can try on different clothing or inspect a home appliance from different angles. If visitors select a product, they can see a digital human wearing an item and rotating 360 degrees for close inspection in any direction.
The metaverse is a simulated virtual world platform that can be accessed through a PC or a VR headset and allows users to engage in various social and cultural activities without physical restrictions. Caliverse aims to implement a more realistic metaverse platform that shows products displayed in a shopping mall elaborately like real ones.
Lotte and Caliverse utilized VR live-action shooting technology, VR synthesis technology that synthesizes actual shooting and graphics, 3D real-time unreal engine rendering technology, and deep-interactive technology that enables users to interact with objects in VR images.
